John BRYMER – Prerogative Court of Canterbury Will – 22 May 1741

In the Name of God Amen

I John Brymer of the parish of St Andrews Holbourn

London Book Keeper to the York Stage Coaches being sick

and weak of Body but in perfect and sound mind and memory

at this present time thanks be to Almighty God for the same Do

make ordain and appoint this my last Will and Testament in

manner and form following ffirst of all I recommend my Soul to

God who gave it me hoping through the Merits of my Saviour

Jesus Christ to inherit Eternal Salvation my Body I recommend

to the Earth to be buried at the discretion of my Executorix hereafter

named and as to my Worldy Estate I give and dispose thereof as

followeth Imprimis I give and bequeath to my Son Barnabis

Brymer five shillings I also bequeath to Dr Richard Barnes one

Guinea I also bequeath to Dr Roger Powell one Guinea I do

also nominate and appoint my loving Wife Margaret to be my

whole and sole heir and Executorix of whatsoever Goods Chattels

Book Debts or any other Effects whatsoever shall appear to be due

to me to be disposed of according to her discretion for her own

life after my ffuneral Charges and what other Debts do appear to

be lawfully due by me are paid and satisfied by the said Margaret

and I hereby revoke and make void all former and other wills by

me at any other time made declaring this to be my last Will and

Testament In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand

and seal this sixth day of May and in the Year of our Lord one

Brymer as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence

of us who at his request and in his presence and in the presence of

each of us have subscribed our names as witnesses hereto

This Will was proved at London Before the Worshipful

Robert Chapman Doctor of Law  Surrogate to the Right

Worshipful John Bettesworth also Doctor of Law Master Keeper

or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully

constituted on the Twenty second day of May in the Year of Our

Lord One Thousand seven hundred and fforty one By the Oath of

Margaret Brymer Widow the Relict of the Deceased and Sole

Executrix named in the said Will To whom was granted

Administration of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits

of the said Deceased being first sworn duly to administer the same
